Found a nice 755 MFWD with 490 hours...has FEL, 60" inch belly mower and a york rake. Everything works great, engine sounds good, tires good. Dealer wants 12,900, which I figure is high; but what's a decent price for this type of machine? Thanks in advance,

Dan

The 755's were made from 1986-1997. At almost 13 grand, I would think this is a later model.
For comparison, I bought a 1991 Deere 670 Gear Tractor, FEL, FWD and a nearly near Befco 60" rear finishing mower for $8500. This machine had 600 hours on the meter.
The 755 is a hydro, but has virtually the same setup (engine, weight, etc.) otherwise.
I think the price is rather high unless it's newer then 1995. However I've not seen the machine or know your location.

If you know the year, or serial number, the linked site may help you (look in the lower left corner for "Used Tractor Price Guide"). ....

Thanks for reply. Forgot to mention that it is a later model (1996) and it's in the Northeast. The machine is not in bad shape, although I wouldn't call it "mint" either. It has the usual dings and scrapes, but otherwise ok. Looks like it spent some time outside. My sense is it should be somewhere around 9500 - 10K.

Anything in particular that I should watch out for with this model? The forward pedal didn't seem firm to me; the dealer says they're all that way. Any thoughts?

Thanks again,

Dan ....

Dan,

I am with you, 10K, I just traded in a 755 4wheel belly and 70 loader and got 10,500 with 320 hours on it

Things to watch for, the pedal would concern me, I never had that issue.I did have a paint issue on the fenders and part of the footrests. The unit is a nice small machine but why not look at a new 4110, the difference may not be all that much especially with the low financing and 1200 rebate

Jim:

Thanks for the input; this is really helpful. Especially like the idea of a new 4110.... don't know how I'd sneak that past the wife though.

I checked the pricing; it looks like a 4110 would push past the $18K mark pretty quickly when you add the FEL and the 60" deck. What is your thought on this? Is the 4110 worth nearly twice what I might get the 755 for? I'm somewhat new to tractor economics, so any insight would be helpful. While I'm looking for something I can hang on to for a long time, I've been told that the resale value of the compact machine is really good.

Again, thanks for the help.

No...not unless you really want to spend the extra money.
The 755 will do you fine... ....

Dan,

Here is a post from a guy who just got the same 4110 setup,

Just ordered one this week. I have the same setup as you described except that I getting the 61" bucket. The dealer quoted me 16,600 and then we applied the 1200 discount big JD is offering. The total then (not including tax) is 15,400.

Be sure you ask about the big JD incentives. You can find them on the JD website.

I just think if you look at the 12900 number and then take the financing at 5.9 your better off new ....

those numbers sound about right to me...when i was looking at green a couple months ago, i got a best price for 4110 w/FEL, 5' mower, 5' boxblade for $16,750...and that was before the rebate/incentives came out...it would probably be worth the extra $2600 (especially when it's YOUR money) to buy new and get warranty and dealer relationship going for u. Not sure what york rake is worth or do u really plan on needing it in the future? ....

Thanks for all of the help here. I've just found a mint condition 1996 model 755 MFWD with all of the toys: FEL, 60" mower, york rake, rear blade, and a JD 513 bush hog for $11,000. The machine has only 135 hours on it and is in showroom condition; not a single scratch anywhere on it. Bush hog has never been used, and the FEL still has the original packing stickers on it. Bringing it home next week. Thanks again for all of the insight!
